Sea Fort Up On Real Estate Market

A Victorian-era sea fort is up for sale in Britain at a cost of $8 million. The fort, located 1 mile off the coast of Portsmouth, was originally built to house 80 sailors as a defense against the French navy. Recently it served as a luxury hotel, but its owner has been forced to sell it due to financial troubles.

No Man's Land Fort, as it is known, was built between 1861 and 1880. The fort is constructed largely of granite and is 200 feet long and rises 60 feet from the sea. The fort features 21 themed rooms, two helipads and a heated indoor pool.

Four ex-military men who have joined the Philippine Senate, revealed plans Thursday to form their own small group in the Senate to be called the Cavaliers club. The group includes two senators who launched several failed mutinies against past and present administrations. But some of their meetings will have to be held in the jail where one of the members is incarcerated.

Re-elected Senator Panfilo Lacson, a former general who served both the Armed Forces of the Philippines and once as chief of the Philippine National Police, said the group will take on the Wednesday Group composed of Senators Manuel Villar, JoKer Arroyo, Francis Pangilinan and Ralph Recto. Vice President Noli de Casto was also a member of the Wednesday group when he was still senator.

Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla paid a surprise visit to a sweetshop to stock up on jelly babies during their tour of Northern Ireland on Wednesday. The prince and the Duchess of Cornwall - who are enjoying a two-day tour of the region - picked up a bag of the sugary delights and a packet of throat lozenges, much to the surprise of Ulster shopkeeper Gerald Monaghan.

Gerald told the Belfast Telegraph: "I asked which sweet was his favorite and he picked 'Throat and Chest' because he said he had a sore throat.

The 47-year-old - nicknamed Air Miles Andy for his frequent flying - is the British ambassador for trade and insists his role requires him to travel to meet foreign ministers and captains of industry.

Prince Andrew told Britain's Independent on Sunday newspaper: "If you're doing what I'm doing, the only way to increase a country's awareness of what the U.K. can provide is to go and visit and maintain that relationship.

Archaeologists say a shipwreck believed to have belonged to the pirate Blackbeard will be fully excavated in three years. The shipwreck is off the coast of North Carolina and is thought to have sunk there in 1718.

Archaeologists researching the site have recovered numerous artifacts, including cannons, jewelry, dishes and other items. The artifacts are being preserved at East Carolina University.
