Mother Flees Scene, Leaving Baby After Being Caught Stealing

Authorities say woman shoplifter in abandons her three-month-old baby after being caught stealing from a supermarket.

A police spokesman in the town of Offenbach just south of Frankfurt says, "When the security man told the woman to enter his office so he could check her identification, the perpetrator took off, leaving behind the baby and the pram."

Prisoner Escapes Cell through Hole in the Wall

It's sounds like the plot from the Shawshank Redemption, L.A. Police are searching for an inmate they believe escaped through a hole he dug in his cell wall.

Reuters reports the robbery suspect managed to cut an opening in the wall of his cell and escape through a 15-by-9-inch hole in just an hour.

In late May, Jason Martin stumbled across a misplaced cell phone at the back of the restaurant he worked at. Upon scanning the phone book, he was surprised to see a list of names including, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, and Bill Gates.

Martin was a bus boy at Brisa Atlantica, a Cuban jazz club/restaurant in Delray Beach. That night, singer Jimmy Buffett had visited the restaurant and lost his cell phone on the way out of the restaurant's back door.
