Man Donates Car To Museum After Clocking 1 Million Miles

Traveling salesman Peter Gilbert from Wisconsin, has donated his car to the Wisconsin Automotive Museum in Hartford after clocking up a million miles.

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Gilbert bought the Saab 900 SPG 17 years ago immediately after his divorce. Since then, the loyal and reliable car has been with him and had notched up 1,001,385 miles and survived eight deer collisions.

Factory Shut Down After It Made Cooking Lard From Trash

A factory in China has been shut down and its manager arrested after it was found to have been selling lard to the public, made from grease that came from garbage, among other things.

Ying Fuming, a manager at the Fanchang Grease Factory in Taizhou, was arrested after he used grease from such inedible things as swill, sewage, pesticides and recycled industrial oil to make lard for human consumption.

Fried Flags Display Removed From Museum

A museum exhibit featuring several American flags that had been deep-fried has been removed over concerns that the art could spark a controversy. The Customs House Museum exhibit titled "The Fat Is in the Fire," featured three U.S. flags imprinted with phrases such as "Poor people are obese because they eat poorly" and more than 40 smaller flags fried in peanut oil, egg batter, flour and black pepper.

Art student William Gentry said his work was inspired by the prevailing obesity problem in America and that he deep-fried the flag for his concern about America and America's health.

Flag Display Removed From Museum

A museum exhibit featuring several American flags that had been deep-fried has been removed. The museum's executive director took down the exhibit less than 18 hours after it went up.

The art was titled "The Fat Is in the Fire," and according to art student William Gentry was a commentary on obesity in America. It was on display at Customs House Museum.

Pa. Letter Carrier Hospitalized After Squirrel Attack

Incidents of letter carrier being attacked by household pets may not be so rare, but conflict with a squirrel may sound a bit offbeat.

Barb Dougherty, a 30-year-old Postal Service employee, said she was attacked and bitten Monday by a squirrel while delivering mail in Oil City, about 75 miles north of Pittsburgh.
