Former State Department Employee Charged With Embezzlement

Attorney General Mike Cox announced on Tuesday that a former state Department employee Sandra May Wentworth pled guilty to 3 counts of embezzlement for embezzling more than $300,000 from the department of Veterans Affairs.

In September 2005, Cox also charged Wentworth's husband and son on related tax fraud charges. Cox says, "Sandra Wentworth admitted to stealing more than $300,000 from the State of Michigan, money that taxpayers intended to pay for services for our veterans."
