Ugandan Woman Gives Birth To 6.5 Lb. Baby Girl Aboard Northwest Flight On Way To U.S.
Northwest Airlines Flight 59 left the Netherlands on Wednesday enroute to the United States with 124 passengers and arrived on New Year's Day with 125 passengers. The extra passenger was baby girl Sasha, who was born mid-air to an Ugandan woman. Most of the passengers were from Europe and India. While the plane was cruising above Halifax in Canada, the flight crew roused the air passengers from their sleep asking if there was a doctor on board.
Banned Giant Snowman Brings Back Holiday Attraction, Nuisance To Alaska Neighborhood
A resident of an east Anchorage neighborhood has recreated a giant snowman in his front yard bringing back the holiday attraction but reviving complaints about the public nuisance it causes. "This is feel good, it's Christmas, lets see the smiles on the kids, you know I love it, you see those little kids here and their eyes get huge," said Billy Powers in defending the 25-foot Snowzilla in Airport Heights, according to KTVA.com.

While the situation in Bangkok appears to be returning to normal with the full restoration of flights at the Suvarnabhumi Airport on Friday, fear of instability still grips the capital city over the medical condition of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The fear was fueled by the failure of the 81-year old monarch to deliver his traditional birthday eve public address on Thursday due to a throat infection. Some political observers, though, opined the king deliberately kept silent to help calm down the heated political situation in Thailand following the eight-day takeover of the international gateway and the removal from office of Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat.
Thai King Failed To Make Annual Birthday Eve Speech Because Of Throat Infection
Because of a throat infection Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej failed to make his traditional birthday eve address on Thursday. It will be his 81st natal day on Friday. Instead Crown Prince Varjiralongkorn announced over Thai radio his father's medical condition. The king is on medication and physicians placed him on a saline drip.
