Milwaukee Resident Finds 4-Foot-Long Snake In Car
A Milwaukee Budget Rental worker got the shock of his life when he found a 4-foot, red-tailed boa in a rental car. The worker found the boa constrictor in the glove box of a returned car's glove compartment and quickly called animal control officers. WTMJ-TV, Milwaukee, Wisconsin reported that by the time the officers got to Mitchell International Airport, where the car was parked, the reptile had moved from the glove box through the dashboard and into the air vents.
Wisconsin Man Changes Name To Andy Griffith, Runs For Sheriff
There is a new sheriff in town and his name is Andy Griffith. The Wisconsin man formerly known as William Frederick is running for sheriff of the state's Grant County, under his new name, Andy Griffith. He told reporters that he hoped the name change would draw attention to the otherwise neglected election of county sheriff. "Nobody knows who's running or what the issues are, if there are any issues or how the people differ," Griffith said, expecting the reference to Mayberry's finest to turn heads.
Queen Elizabeth Adds Operator Duties For Security At Windsor Castle
Britain's Queen Elizabeth is planning on cutting down costs at Buckingham Palace. The monarch is said to be firing the Palace's night phone operator and diverting calls to Windsor Castle's fire surveillance room instead. The queen employs an operator to work between 10 pm and 8 am to take important phone calls regarding urgent matters of state business with a salary of $25,000 a year.
School Cost Cutter Paid $1,500 A Day By Taxpayers In Toronto Area
A former bureaucrat has been appointed, at a cost to taxpayers of $1,500 a day, to oversee and make all the financial decisions at the Duffern-Peel Catholic school board. Norbert Hartmann was named to the post by Ontario Education Minister Kathleen Wynne. She said his salary, which is paid by the already impoverished Dufferin-Peel schools, is on-par with what was paid to previous supervisors who have been sent to balance the budgets of rebellious school boards. The two-member special assistance teams examining the mass of cuts being made in Toronto public and Catholic schools are also earning $1,500 a day, said a spokesperson for Wynne.
Polish PM Asks People To Feed Ducks
On Saturday, Poland's Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski called a news briefing in a Warsaw park to urge the citizens of the country to feed ducks with the approach of winter. The PM was expected to make an announcement on the future of the ruling coalition government, instead he presented a yellow duck as the campaign mascot of his Law and Justice(PiS) party ahead of November's local elections.
