Man Lives In Tree For 50 Years After Disturbance With Wife
Gayadhar Parida, an 84-year-old villager of Kuligaon village in eastern Indian state of Orissa has been living in a tree for the last 50 years after disturbance with his wife, reports IANS. Wife of Gayadhar told, "We quarreled over a tiny issue and that is why he left me and promised not to live with me and return home till his death."
Researchers Probe Ghost Sightings On Ship
A five-member team from the Rhode Island Paranormal Research group visited Mystic Seaport on Friday night to spend time on the Charles W. Morgan, a wooden whaling ship where several visitors have reported seeing ghosts. The 165-year-old craft made 37 ocean voyages in search of whales during the 60 years it was in use. About 1,000 men worked on the Morgan over those decades.
Barge in Lower Ninth Ward to Be Cut Up and Removed
A barge that landed in the middle of the Lower Ninth Ward after Hurricane Katrina flooded the city of New Orleans is finally being cut in pieces and removed. The barge, which became somewhat of a symbol of the destruction that Hurricane Katrina brought to the region, was being cut apart Friday by workers wielding torches. The 200-foot barge sat on a row of houses that were located opposite of the Industrial Canal wall after the storm.
NC Fishing Pier Gets The Axe In Divorce Settlement
A fishing pier hailed as the longest pier in North Carolina, is about to become a thing of the past thanks to rising real estate prices and a divorce settlement. The Long Beach Pier is slated to be torn down sometime in February, along with its tackle shop, motel and restaurant after closing Saturday.
