Russian customs officials in Buholovo near the Latvian border have discovered a one mile long pipeline that was pumping vodka to the other side of the border. Police officers patrolling the border said the tunnel had been laid six feet underground by still unidentified syndicates to pump home-made vodka across the border to avoid paying taxes and other government regulations on the liquor.

The Applebee's restaurant bartender finally got to cash out the $10,000 tip a customer left her on a $26 bill last weekend. Cindy Kienow said she plans to buy a Jeep with the money. The customer paid with a credit card so the restaurant had to make sure the tip was valid before cashing it out. The franchise owner handed Kienow $6,300 -- the tip after taxes.

Nevada's Clark County School District may be some 400 teachers short this year, but it did add to its coffers thanks to the generosity of a Las Vegas strip club. Scores Las Vegas raised $2,500 for the district by holding an event called "Detention," in which strippers were dressed as teachers, schoolgirls and librarians. An advertisement said, "It's back to school time and you know what that means. Detention for everyone who has been bad!"

A central Connecticut city council recently shut down a boy's bait selling business saying owning the business outside of his home was against city ordinance. Joey Cadieux, 13, said he makes $5 to $10 selling the worms he finds in his back yard to fisherman. He uses the money to buy pizza.

Nine Indiana auto part workers whose factory will close at the end of the year, rendering them unemployed, won the $9 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot. The nine men, all of them current and former Delphi Corp. employees, contributed weekly to pay for tickets worth $50 in the lottery. All of them remained patient, for more than 15 years and never gave up their dream of winning.
