A substitute music teacher from an elementary school in Boulder, Colorado has been arrested after she whacked a 10-year-old student on the head with a viola bow. Carla Shinners, who is better known by the nickname "Mrs. Grumpy Lady" is also accused of swearing in front of students.

The 63-year-old handed herself to police Tuesday after an arrest warrant was issued on her name. The incident took place on February 12 when Shinners, a teacher for more than 30 years in the district, was interrupted by a call on her own cell phone and she then began swearing.

AP quotes the 10-year-old as saying that Shinners also pulled her hair. Briggs Gamblin, a spokesman for the school district confirmed Thursday night that she had been terminated from her services.

However, Shinners believes that the students are biased on her as she was white and they are Hispanic. Shinners could face a charge of child abuse resulting in injury. She is free on a $1,000 bond.
