South Korean's Samsung Electronics is developing a new generation refrigerator, equipped with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, which detects when its contents are running low or approaching expiration dates. According to the Korea Times's Wednesday edition, in addition to automatically sensing inventory needs such as when milk or juices run low, Samsung's refrigerator could even send a shopping list to its owner's cell phone or to the supermarket.

Researchers from the University of Science and Technology of China found that Chinese people use more of their right brain than do people of Western countries. Describing the reason behind the findings researchers revealed that Chinese use the tone-sensitive right brains to process the tonetic changes of Chinese words in the early 200 milliseconds before the left brain joins to associate the meaning.

Need a hug? Well scientists have developed a Hug Shirt that can cuddle and hug. The shirt employs new technology that lets the wearer remotely hug another user via use of Bluetooth. Nominated as one of the best Inventions of 2006 by Time Magazine! the device is activated when a friend sends you a virtual hug. The wearers cell phone notifies the shirt wirelessly, via Bluetooth technology and then re-creates that person's distinctive hug, replicating his or her warmth, pressure, duration and even heartbeat.

A California men's prison hopes to keep inmates from returning to crime by training them for undersea construction and dam. The marine technology training program is taught to prisoners serving 14 months to 4 years sentences. Ironically, the California Institution for Men is landlocked and located on a stretch of former farmland some 40 miles east of Los Angeles.
