Nemesis NXT Racer Sets New Aerial Speed Record At Oshkosh

A new air speed record was set at the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Wednesday when pilot Jon Sharp flew 3 kilometers in just 18. 75 seconds. Sharp, who founded Nemesis Air Racing in Mojave, California with his wife Patricia in 1990, broke the 19-year-old record of 331 mph when his Nemesis NXT hit 356 mph on a speed run above thousands of fans. Crowds gathered to watch Sharp, who helped pioneer the design for neoteric experimental technology (NXT) kit aircraft, who will try again on Saturday to go even faster.

The blog that caught the attention of Silicon Valley CEOs is calling it quits. 'Fake Steve Jobs' is moving onto a new job and Hollywood. The blog, "The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs" is shutting down after its author said he no longer wanted to make fun of the controversial CEO of Apple. Daniel Lyons, a former Fortune magazine editor, said he's heading to Newsweek and will be blogging under his own name.

The 1998 movie, "Fight Club', based on the book by Chuck Palahniuk, published in 1996, may have seemed far fetched, but it struck a chord with men who say they feel emasculated by the mundaneness of the corporate, high-tech world. ESPN reported that since 1998, a fight club has been meeting once a month in Cornell educated software engineer, Gints Klimani's, garage. Fifteen men, mostly white, middle-aged technology workers meet to beat each other using fists, toilet seats, and cookie sheets. The group improvises weapons, even stabbing each other with dulled knives.

It all began 30 years ago today. The mother lode of all spam - the bane of everyone's online existence - was first sent out via the U. S. Defense Department's Arpanet by a salesman named Gary Thuerk. The first junk mail or "Spam" as we know it today, was an invitation for a demo of the new system-20 mini computers being marketed by the Digital Equipment Corp.
