St. Joseph resident Lori Felzien had to face one of the most embarrassing situations of her life when her sixth-grade son dialed the number printed on a bookmark he received during a health lesson and it connected to a hardcore sex hotline.

The teen handed over the phone to his mother saying, "Mom, listen to this." Felzien then immediately contacted authorities at Bessie Ellison Elementary School who distributed those HIV/AIDS - awareness bookmarks.

According to AP reports, the toll-free number was once owned by Teens Teaching AIDS Prevention, part of the Kansas City-based nonprofit Good Samaritan Project. However, the AIDS hot line has no longer been functional since last year and a sex hot line has since taken over the number.

"We've got to get these cards out of these kids' hands," Felzien said adding that when she also contacted Mitzi Teliczan of the Buchanan County Health Department, which is also listed on the bookmark, they admitted to approving a series of bookmarks on different topics several years ago.

However, it was not until recently that the bookmarks were distributed throughout local schools which lead to the goof up.
