A bidder has paid $30,000 to win a lunch date with actress Jessica Biel, recently named Esquire magazine's "Sexiest Woman Alive. " The date was auctioned to raise money for a Colorado teen who lost her leg and part of her pelvis in an accident. Molly Bloom was run over by a Hummer stretch limousine on the night of her prom. The money will be used to pay for Bloom's medical expenses. A man identified as "John" made the $30,000 bid for a date with Biel, who is a Boulder native. "John" says he is a senior vice president for an oil and gas company in Denver. Biel, 24, says in a taped message, "I promise, I'm a cheap date. " Her father says the lunch date was the actress' idea.

An India-born American teenager has set a record by memorizing 10,980 digits of 'pi', the ratio of circumference of a circle to its diameter. The previous North American record was set up by a 27-year-old who recited 10,625 digits of the non-ending decimal. 15-year-old Gaurav Raja, an 11th grader of Salem High School in Virginia, has reserved ninth position in the world, by reciting the digits in the value of pi at two numbers per second for one hour, 14 minutes and 28 seconds.

After nearly two decades of ridicule, a father has agreed to change his teen son's name. The man angered by the imposed fine for having fifth child named his son "Fined Six Thousand and Five Hundred. " Mai Xuan Can named his son Mai Phat Sau Nghin Ruoi after the amount he was forced to pay 6,500 dong (50 cents), said Dai Cuong village chief Nguyen Huy Thuong.

A 16-year-old boy burned down his house afraid that his parents would find out about his real score on an English test. The incident killed his stepmother and two younger siblings. The teen is thought to have set fire to the house in Nara, western Japan. His stepmother, 7-year-old brother and 5-year-old sister perished in the fire.

A teen in Virginia has set the North American record for reciting the digits of pi. Gaurav Raja, 15, recited 10,980 digits from memory, breaking the previous record of 10,625.
