A two year old English Bulldog was crowned winner of the 27th annual Drake's Most Beautiful Bulldog Contest, after beating the other 49 contestants. The contest marks the beginning of the Drake Relays, one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious track and field meets.

Prosecutors attempted to force the removal of gold tooth caps from two drug suspects, saying the "grills" were seizable assets. The Associated Press reports that Flenard T. Neal Jr. and Donald Jamar Lewis were in a car heading to the dentist when defense attorney convinced a judge to stop the procedure.

Researchers have found nine skulls with 11 drill holes in a Pakistan graveyard proving that dentistry is at least 4,000 years older than first thought. An article in Thursday's journal Nature reports that primitive dentists drilled nearly perfect holes into live but undoubtedly unhappy patients between 5500 B. C. and 7000 B. C. As it was much before the useful invention of anesthesia.
