A television reporter in California is attacked while trying to interview a couple suspected of perpetrating a real estate scam.
The couple bit and hit John Mattes of Fox 6 News, leaving him with cracked ribs and cuts on his face.
Authorities identified the assailants as Assad "Sam" Suleiman, 36, and his wife, Rosa Amelia Barraza, 33.
Mattes accused Suleiman of stealing identities so he could purchase houses and rent them out.
A camera recorded Mattes talking to Brian Phillips outside a La Jolla home, when a woman began screaming and swearing at him.
She sprayed them with water and hit Mattes in the face with the bottle.
Suleiman then arrived and punched Mattes in the face and head, and put him in a headlock. Phillips tried to pull Suleiman off Mattes and the three fell to the ground.
Video footage showed Suleiman continuing to kick Mattes.
Mattes told Fox 6, "He literally just came flying straight at me ... and I am feeling someone ripping at my face, pulling at my hair... We are talking about someone gouging, scratching and biting me."
After the attack, Mattes was seen with blood pouring down his face.
Barraza threatened to get a gun during the fight. She was arrested for making a terrorist threat, displaying a deadly weapon, battery, and theft for allegedly stealing the cameraman's microphone.
Suleiman was booked for alleged felony assault.
