A Folcroft nurse defending herself from a civil complaint by her landlord had to act promptly when she saw her 77-year-old plaintiff looked sick. La Tina Osborne, a pediatric nurse, instead had to perform artificial respiration on Genevieve Zumuda, when she stopped breathing for a while.
The 32-year-old tenant noticed Zumuda started shaking and her eyes rolled to the back of her head when she presented her case. She immediately placed her on the floor and began mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Assisted by a court clerk, Zumuda was taken to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital when paramedics arrived and used a defibrillator to regain a heartbeat. AP reports that Zumuda is now in stable condition on Wednesday.
Osborne, for whom saving a life is more important than winning a case said "When people are down, if you can help them, you help them." She also wanted the incident to be a lesson to her children. She has been Zumuda's tenant for nearly a year.
