Passengers in a small small plane sustained minor injuries after the crashing in someone's front yard shortly after taking off.

Then, the family of three called a taxi to take them to the hospital. The pilot, Paul Kaemmerling, his wife Kim and their 14-year-old daughter from Liberty, Texas were all on board the plane when it either lost power or hadn't gained enough altitude, investigators told a local NBC affiliate.

The plane's emergency landing was in the front yard of Bill Ashcraft, who came home to find the spectacle. He told reporters there was gas leaking from the plane.

Another neighbor said it sounded like an explosion and she felt the vibration in her house. That's why some nearby residents told the news station they were surprised when the family called a taxi rather than 911. However, no one involved sustained life-threatening injuries.

Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash.
