A worker at a concrete factory in Manor, Texas on Wednesday cut off his own arm that got caught in a machinery to free himself and survived.
The 52-year-old man, whose name was withheld, almost died on the scene but responding paramedics rushed him to the Brackenridge Hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition.
The accident happened at the Alamo Concrete at 4:30 a.m., when the man's sleeve got caught in the machinery.
According to Dallasnews.com, Austin/Travis County Emergency Medical Services spokesman Warren Hassinger said the man cut his arm from the elbow. The report did not say how the man cut his arm and what tool he used to do it.
After cutting his arm, the man immediately called 911.
Statesman.com quoted Elizabeth Todd, a spokeswoman for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as saying that the accident is under investigation.
