Some 1,000 amorous Thais volunteered to test condoms for customer satisfaction Wednesday. At least 500 positions were available as part of a campaign to promote safe sex in the region.

According to Durex, a Thai marketing firm for condoms, "We are surprised to see huge interest in our campaign with almost 1,000 applicants wanting to take part."

Durex said the campaign promotes safe sex as well as giving Thais "an outstanding opportunity to enjoy their favorite pastime."

There are no preference for condom volunteers who wants to take part in the test condoms as long as Thais aged over 20 years old. There is also no educational qualifications necessary.

Every successful applicants will get free Durex tester kits but they are required to respond to an online questionnaire after each use.

The Thai government has been alerted that HIV/AIDS cases in the region is the kingdom's top cause of death, followed by heart disease. Some 500,000 Thais are infected with HIV.
