On Tuesday, the sixth day of the sixth month in the sixth year of the millennium, thirteen motorcyclists from Michigan plan a trip to the town called Hell.
Tuesday's date can be briefly stated as 6-6-06, and three sixes signify the devil according to some interpretations of the Bible.
There is nothing satanic about the motorcycle trek, organizer Joe Dowd told the Associated Press, "We originally planned on taking the last ferry of the year across Lake Michigan and call this year's event Hell Freezes Over," he said. "But when I saw 6-6-06 on the calendar, I said, 'We've got to go to Hell then.' It won't come again for another (hundred) years. Everybody's loving it."
The first trip was called To Hell and Back, the second We Went Through Hell to Get Here, and this year's trip is Straight to Hell.
Ten cyclists on eight Harley-Davidsons will make a trip on the Lake Express ferry Tuesday morning across Lake Michigan from Milwaukee to Muskegon, Mich. They will then meet up with three others on three Harleys and ride about 125 miles to Hell.
They include eight men and five women ranging in age from their 30's to a man in his 70's. The cyclists plan to visit a trinket shop and eat at a restaurant in Hell, then make their way back home at different times and different routes over the next few days.
