For years, he's been known simply as the "Unknown Child". After what researchers say was a wrong identification in 2002, one of the smallest victims from the sinking of the Titanic has been given a new name.
The remains of a child who died during the disaster was identified five years ago as that of Eino Viljami Panula of Finland. But, earlier this week, one of the Canadian researchers who identified the child in 2002 said the team was wrong and that the child is actually an English boy.
Additional DNA tests apparently showed the boy to be 19-month-old Sidney Leslie Goodwin, who was traveling with his family on the way to Niagara Falls, NY.
Some of the child's teeth and a small piece of bone were exhumed in 2001 and scientists used those to test against surviving female family members. Scientists believe Goodwin, along with his parents and five siblings were third-class passengers on the ship and were on their way to a new life in New York. His father was headed there to work at a power plant.
