Flights of thousands of LaGuardia Airport passengers were delayed after tomato juice spilled over an X-ray machine causing it to malfunction.
Passengers were brought to a near-standstill in security lines for hours.
The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) confirmed that the spill caused too much delay to passengers. LaGuardia Airport has five units of X-ray machines used to screen thousands of passengers every day.
The TSA spokesman said that a seller working inside the airport was the one responsible for the spill.
He added that the isolated incident is one of the risks that one can take in dealing with technology.
