In an attempt to set up a drug deal, two suspected thieves mistakenly telephoned police at 3 a. m. on Tuesday, thus ending up in jail. The dopes, Paul White, 38, and Ryan Ogle, 25 were arrested after they dialed the emergency number 911 instead of their drug dealer's. Pomona police immediately traced the call and asked a patrol officer to check on them. The men were found standing beside a car which had been reported as stolen.

A Pittsburgh zoo's 2-year-old polar bear is recovering Monday after root canal surgery. Last month, zookeepers at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium examined the bear after they noticed that he seemed lethargic. They discovered that Koda's quadrant mandibular canine - a big, fang-like tooth on the lower right side of his jaw - was infected. Dr. Tom Klein, a veterinary dentist at Ohio State University who operated on Koda, said the infection in the tooth could have spread to the jaw if it wasn't dealt with.

A 1939 Auto Union D-Type, a racing car commissioned by dictator Adolf Hitler is expected to become the most expensive car ever sold at an auction. Christie's Auction House is set to auction the D-Type, believed to be one of only two in existence, in February in Paris, France. It was created by Ferdinand Porsche after a personal request from Hitler who wanted the car to be one of his propaganda tools to show off the technological superiority of the Third Reich.

A New York-based beauty company has introduced a new range of dyes for pubic hair. And Betty Beauty says sales have been brisk since the product line was introduced. The company, which markets the products as "color for the hair down there," has appeared on television and in magazines such as Vogue to promote the hair dyes.

Nebraskan, Kevin Holder, was arrested for the 226th time. His rap sheet is 43 pages long and goes way back to 1980. He was nabbed by police in possession of burglar tools.
