The brothers who escaped with injuries after being attacked by a tiger at the San Francisco Zoo on Christmas Day will be suing the zoo authorities for a security lapse. The brothers have hired one of the top lawyers of the country to represent them in court.
Paul and Kulbir Dhaliwal have appointed Mark Geragos to file a lawsuit on their behalf. Geragos is a celebrated lawyer, having represented high profile clients like Michael Jackson and Winona Ryder.
Geragos has termed the incident as the zoo's 'utter disregard of safety' reports ABC News. The incident that injured the brother duo had also killed their friend Carlos Sousa Jr.
Geragos told ABC News, "There are some very disturbing facts yet to come out about what happened. One of the brothers had absolutely no reason to be attacked. After Carlos was attacked, this brother ran to the zoo cafe and they would not let him in. The same guys who sold him nachos wouldn't let him back in. They locked the door. Thirty minutes later, he was attacked by the tiger."
Geragos has also claimed that the zoo's security staff did not help the brothers. He asked ABC News, "Has anybody even talked to this woman who was in the security golf cart? She was motoring around in between the first and second attacks. What was she doing?"
Meanwhile, the San Francisco incident has made zoo authorities sit up throughout the states and take stock of their security arrangements.
Peggy Ferebee, zoo curator of the Natural Science Center at Greensboro assured the public that the Natural Science Center was perfectly safe.
She said, "We're really really comfortable with our safety procedures because everything is checked and double-checked." However, she also said that they will look closely at the recommendations of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums for the San Francisco zoo and implement them if necessary, reports News Record.
