A Japanese toymaker will produce a human-sized version of a Japanese anime hero. Standing five-foot tall the anime robot can do a pose, make robotic noises and shoot his machine gun.
The toys will be based on anime hit Gundam. It is a cult hit both in the U.S. and Japanese television.
The robot will weigh 35 kilograms and attract 20- to 40-year-old men who can afford the $3,000 price tag.
"They can use the robot as part of interior decoration -- decorating their living rooms, for example -- or else simply enlarge their collections," a spokeswoman for the toymaker Bandai Co. said.
"Since Gundam is so popular among men in this age range, I am sure they will be very happy with a Gundam this big," she added.
Bandai Co.'s goal is to sell 1,500 models of the "Hyper Hybrid" Gundam starting on December 16.
