Giant bra maker Triumph International has unveiled a 'chopsticks bra' in Japan hoping to cutting down on disposable chopstick.
"Its small step, but because many Japanese chopsticks are disposable, big chunks of forests are being cut down," Triumph spokesperson Hiromi Shinta said. "So we thought we could help promote the use of 'My Chopsticks' and help cut down on disposable chopsticks."
While chopsticks were first used in China nearly 4,000 years ago, the craze invaded Japan and went disposable about 130 years ago.
Estimates say that about 25 billion pairs of wooden chopsticks are thrown away in Japan every year, although many of these are made from recycled wood chips.
The spokesperson for Triumph adds the 'My Hashi Bra' (or My Chopstick Bra) comes with collapsible chopsticks stashed inside the body of the brassiere, which comes handy for busy women looking to stash their eating utensils while on the go.
The chopsticks are compact and form part of the bra's frame.
