A semi-truck driver, who tried to snack on a couple of doughnuts while driving, ended up rolling his truck on its side, spilling a load of specialty sunflower seeds all over the road. Though Merv Bontrager of Milo suffered few injuries on his knuckles he said his "ego was bruised."
The accident took place when Bontrager was tasked to fetch the specialty sunflowers from a farm near Newburg to an elevator in Pingree, in south central North Dakota.
It happened when Bontrager's attention shifted away briefly from an off-ramp on which he was driving Tuesday morning when he felt hungry and looked for something to eat.
AP quotes Bontrager as saying, "I just looked down briefly on the floor where I had thrown a couple of doughnuts I was going to eat later, to see where they had landed."
This made the truck roll over on the southeast edge of Minot in "slow motion," before Bontrager could realize it was too late for him to bring the truck back on road.
