A mayor in the Philippines' financial capital on Thursday issued a threat to dump the city's garbage in front of the Metro Manila Development Authority, the agency tasked to dispose trash of the metropolis. An angry Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay told the MMDA to solve Metro Manila's garbage or its office would have its own stinking problem.

A 2-pound kitten was finally rescued from a storm drain in West Virginia, with the help of two fire trucks, five firefighters, several animal rescuers and about 250 gallons of water. Firefighters tried coaxing it out with food and encouraging words. They also tried flashing lights and banging tools on the pipe to scare the kitten out, reported CNN.

Visitors to an amusement park in Arkansas were left stunned this weekend after a roller coaster train carrying 12 riders came to a halt at the highest point of the loop due to a power outage. According to onlookers, the X-Coaster passengers were stranded upside down for nearly 30 minutes before they were rescued by firefighters. According to park officials, the power outage might have been caused by a tree limb or an animal that might have got stuck in the system.

Police rescued a man from a garbage truck after receiving his panicky call. The man fell asleep scavenging for bottles in the garbage dumpster. According to police Lt. Mike Pousak, the man, who is unemployed but not homeless, awoke when the container was unloaded into a truck. He told police he was not aware of which truck he was in but gave a dispatcher the location of the Dumpster he fell asleep in.
