An eight-year-old two headed albino rat snake at an aquarium in St. Louis has died. The reptile, named "We" was not only unique in having two heads and a rare light brown color but it also amazed scientists by its long life-span. Most two-headed snakes perish within a week or two of their birth.

According to We's caretaker, Leonard Sonnenschein, more than a million people have seen the reptile since the World Aquarium acquired it in 1999.

"People come in every day and say: 'I'm here to see the two-headed snake,'" Sonnenschein told the AP adding that the bicephalic died of natural causes.

In 2000, We was scheduled to be auctioned on eBay with an expected price tag of $150,000, however that sale was prevented by the auction site's policy of not trading in live animals.
