Experts in UFOs are trooping to the once quiet farming community in Stephenville, Texas after receiving reports that at least a dozen of its residents have been seeing mysterious lights in the sky lately. Among those who have claimed to have seen the bright lights hovering the skies were a pilot, a policeman and local business owners.

Some even claim seeing fighter jets chasing the unidentified craft when the lights appeared on January 8. However, the local Air Force base issued a statement saying none of its planes were in the area at the given time.

While a spokesman for the Air Force said has suggested that the UFO might only be an illusion created by reflections of the sunset on commercial airliners, local residents insist what they saw was larger, quieter, faster and flies much closer to the ground than any other plane.

One of those who claimed to have seen the UFO, Steve Allen, a pilot and freight company owner, said the object was about a mile long and half a mile wide. "It was positively, absolutely nothing from these parts," said Allen. "People wonder what in the world it is because this is the Bible Belt, and everyone is afraid it's the end of times."

An Erath County constable, Lee Roy Gaitan, said while he was sure it wasn't a UFO, he was also sure it was not an air plane.

"I didn't see a flying saucer and I don't know what it was, but it wasn't an airplane, and I've never seen anything like it," said Gaitan.

With reports of the sighting, the Mutual UFO Network, said it is planning to visit Stephenville next weekend.
