Swedish researchers said that an extra hour of sleep may reduce the likelihood of having a heart attack as most countries, including the United States, shift from daylight saving time to normal standard times. The extra hour of sleep brought about by shifting of the clocks back an hour may prevent the risk of a heart attack, compared with the heart attack risks during the first week of DST's implementation in spring, which were higher.

As an alternative to lighting up cigarettes which has been banned in public dining and drinking establishments in the U. K. , a British firm will introduce to the market in December liquid smoking. The drink, made of a South African herbal extract, mimics the sensation of puffing a cigarette, minus the cancer-causing smoke and nicotine. The manufacturer, United Drinks and Beauty Corporation, claims, quoted by Guardian Unlimited, "the drink has a slight energizing effect, followed by a euphoric sense of calming and relaxation, like the satisfaction of your cigarette. "

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah and billionaire prince Alwaleed Bin Talal have launched an ambitious project to build a tower higher than the world's tallest building to be constructed in the United Arab Emirates. The more than one kilometer high Kingdom Tower will be the key landmark in the Kingdom City to be built by Talal's Kingdom Holding Company in Jeddah. The height will exceed the planned 3,281-feet Nakheel Tower and the 2,684-foot Burj Dubai under construction in Dubai.
