The mayor of Las Vegas suggests people who deface freeways with graffiti should have their thumbs cut off on television as a penalty.
On the TV show "Nevada Newsmakers," Mayor Oscar Goodman says, "In the old days in France, they had beheadings of people who commit heinous crimes."
Goodman argues, "these punks come along and deface... the city's beautiful highway landscaping project."
The Mayor suggests, "put them on TV and cut off a thumb. That may be the right thing to do."
Goodman reportedly feels whippings should be brought back for children who get into trouble.
