Wannabe newlyweds who want to get married late at night can no longer go to the county's marriage-license office in Las Vegas. The city that calls itself "the wedding capital of the world" is closing the office from midnight to 8 a. m. While most of America is asleep during these hours, partiers in Vegas are very much awake.

An estimated 2,000 magicians from around the globe, from China to the Virgin Islands are taking part in this week's World Championship in Magic in Stockholm, Sweden. A report by the AP says tables floating shoulder-high, cards sailing through the air, rabbits pulled out of habits, a table levitating were just a few of the tricks the competitors were presenting.

A new law in Las Vegas bans feeding the homeless at city parks. Unanimously passed by the Las Vegas City Council, the ordinance brings a maximum penalty of $1,000 and six months in jail for those who break it.

A lawyer says she stole $300,000 from a client, only to lose it all in an e-mail scam. Knovack Jones, a former prosecutor and lawyer for almost 25 years has pleaded guilty to stealing the estate of Pauline English, worth nearly $400,000.

Sex workers in Vegas are advocating respect for their profession in Sin City. Prostitutes demonstrated on the steps of the courthouse in downtown Las Vegas. Hookers and strippers demanded more legal protection in an effort to decriminalize the "world's oldest profession. " Thirty-six-year-old ex-Army Reservist, Starchild, stood in solidarity with the rallying sex workers in Las Vegas. He emphatically claimed his seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
