A Virginia sheriff says sexual services are okay in the line of duty. Spotsylvania County Sheriff Howard Smith says it's okay to allow detectives to receive sexual services in the course of their investigations so they can catch suspects in the act. Smith said the measures are needed to bring felony sex charges rather than misdemeanors. He compared the practice to drug stings in which undercover officers buy illicit narcotics from suspected dealers.

A Virginia jury convicted a dog owner of involuntary manslaughter after her pit bills killed an 82-year-old woman. Dorothy Sullivan was attacked by three pit bills March 8 while walking her shih tzu.

Concerned parents do not want their kids exposed to a Victoria's Secret display while visiting Santa Claus in a mall in Virginia. The concerns prompted mall officials to erect a black curtain between Santa's chair and the Victoria's Secret store at the Valley View Mall in the Roanoke area.
