B. Srinivas Amarnath, inventor of Ladybird Bio Beer says the brew contains aloe-vera extracts as well as the normal ingredients: barley malt and hops.
Human clinical trials show aloe-vera increases bioavailability of vitamins like B1, B6, B12, C and E.
He says research shows it does not harm the liver or cause ulcers or gastric illness.
The beer was unveiled in the southern Indian state of Kerala Thursday. Arnarnath says shipments have been sent to Canada and customers in Malaysia and The U.S. have also shown interest.
