Traditionally, typhoons were cursed natural phenomenon that people pray would never hit their region. However, in the Philippines, a country hit by an average of 25 destructive typhoons annually, weather forecasters, and even the government, were praying that the typhoon slated to hit the country before changing course would turn back and hit landfall. Nathaniel Cruz, chief weather forecaster of the Philippine Astronomical, Geophysical and Seismology Administration (Pagasa), said that tropical typhoon "Chedeng" was supposed to hit northern Philippines this week, but it changed course and is now headed towards Taiwan.

An official at the Zamboanga City airport in southern Philippines is seeking the help of police and junk shop owners in recovering 19 landing light transformers stolen from the airport, the Sun. Star Zamboanga reported on Thursday. Celso Bayabos, the manager of the Air Transportation Office in Zamboanga City, said his staff found out that the transformers, which are used to light the approach of runway 27, were missing during an inspection on Friday.

The Philippine government is asking the Filipino people to pray for typhoon to ease the dry-spell the country is experiencing which is being blamed for power shortage and agricultural difficulties. Typhoon can be a country's worst enemy but in the Philippines, the government is doing their best to experience heavy rains particularly in water sheds. The Arroyo administration has even opted to cloud seeding operations to facilitate rains.

A British soldier serving in Iraq is the doppelganger of Britain's Prince Harry. Serviceman Wayne Ayers not only looks just like the prince, but at 22 he is the same age and drives the same Scimitar tank in his regiment. The similarity is so great his comrades have nicknamed him Prince Harry, but there is a fear that Wayne may be targeted by terrorists who believe he is the prince.

Emergency officials at the Casper, Wyoming, fire department quickly went into action Tuesday morning when they received a call in their office to rescue a worker hanging from 150 feet in the air from the city's Western Area Power Administration tower. Authorities dispatched Casper Fire-EMS rescue and command units, two Natrona County sheriff's vehicles, a fire protection district rescue unit and a Life Flight helicopter only to discover that it was a dummy that was hanging, not a man.
