Two newly-wed Chinese hope to land in the record books as the world's shortest couple. After postponing their marriage for three years, Li Tangyong, 3 feet 6 inches, of Shunde City, finally married Chen Guilan, 2 feet 3 inches, Oct. 1 joining 30 other couples in a group wedding at a park in the city.

Ernest Stroming and Nitisha Jackson were named husband and wife on Tuesday, then a judge pronounced his sentence: 18 months for drug possession and fleeing police. The unique day in court was precipitated by Stroming, 28, telling the judge he wanted to marry his 25 year-old bride before going to jail as a part of his rehabilitation.

Bao Xishun, a 7-foot-9-inch herdsman from Inner Mongolia, has finally tied the knot. His bride is a 28-year-old saleswoman from his hometown who stands at a mere 5 feet 6 inches tall. The couple wed in a traditional ceremony at the tomb of Kublai Khan in Erdos city in northern China. More than 2,000 people turned out for the wedding, including relatives, locals and a large crowd of media persons, the AP reports.

While the guests were enjoying the wedding reception downstairs, the newlyweds engaged in a fight-like situation in their hotel room that later ended in bride striking her new groom with heel of her stiletto shoe. Police arrested 33-year-old Teresa Brown in the couple's hotel room for attacking his 40-year-old groom Mark Allerton. According to her attorney, Brown had been on antidepressants and drinking at the time of the incident.
