A woman enraged at her husband for telling her to turn up the house's heating system drew a gun, aimed at him, pulled the trigger. She ended up hitting the TV. The husband was cowering underneath a pillow when the shot was fired.
The incident was reported to 911, as a Joseph Grucz placed the call saying "My wife's got a gun. She's shooting at me."
Grucz reported that his wife Cheryl, 61, was angered when he asked her to turn the heat up. She then fired the gun, hit the plasma TV, and then went upstairs.
The Detroit Free Press reported that Cheryl told the 911 dispatcher through a phone extension, "He pushed me over the edge, that's all." She added that her husband was strained due the recent death of a family member, and was "taking it all out on me."
"No, I'm not," piped Joseph from the phone in the basement, where he was hiding while waiting for the police to arrive.
The AP reported that Grucz appeared Monday in the Romeo District Court charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm. If convicted, she would face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison. She was also accused of a firearms felony.
Grucz was released on a $50,000 bond, and was scheduled for a preliminary examination on January 15.
