A woman who admitted that she served her husband curry with dog excrement was reportedly let off with a warning.
Jill Martin, 47, apparently decided to take drastic measures upon witnessing the disintegration of her marriage. She served her husband the tainted dish, and burst out laughing as soon as he started eating it.
Reports from the police merely stated that her escape of a jail sentence was due to circumstances being presently different than they were during the time of the incident.
Despite Martin's release, Sheriff Susan Sinclair stressed that the pressure and the stress that have been plaguing the defendant due to a failing marriage, there is no disregarding the fact that the charges that were laid upon Martin are serious.
Martin's defense lawyer Charlie McCusker explained that his client has been undergoing an active process in solving an alcohol problem. He also said that the incident was a result of Martin's exposure to a marriage in which she was "undermined by her partner, and had very low self-esteem," quoted ABC News
Martin merely spent a night in jail after her arrest. She and her husband Donald were married for 21 years.
The New York Daily News added that the couple is now in the middle of the divorce process.
