A group of Christmas carolers in central Wisconsin are attempting to sing their way into the record books.
About 1,300 carolers gathered over the weekend in hopes of setting a record for the largest group of carolers.
However, the group was unable to beat the existing record set last year in Massachusetts, when more than 3,800 carolers sang together.
Those heading the effort are blaming the insufficient turnout on a threatened boycott due to the lack of Christian songs. Organizers replaced two songs with Christian songs, a move that wasn't enough to attract the necessary amount of spirited voices.
Wausau Area Events executive director, Amy Altenburgh, says her group will continue to try to break the record every year.
