A 14-year-old Milwaukee boy survived repeated compaction, after being loaded in a garbage truck.

Workers at the recycling processing center in Germantown saw the half-conscious boy at 2 p.m. Tuesday when the truck unloaded its content at the facility, city Waste Management spokesman Lynn Morgan said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He was taken to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa for treatment.

The boy ran away from a boot camp-style school for teens on Monday after an argument with his teacher. His parents and police only learned he ended up inside the garbage truck when Waste Management reported the incident.

Germantown police and Waste Management officials are investigating to determine the location of the cardboard trash container, where the boy was, when it was collected by the garbage truck and why he was inside it.
