A 79-year-old woman using a toy gun and wearing a visor that read "Princess" has been charged with attempted bank robbery.
Melvena Cooke was set free on a $4,500 bond and is in her daughter's custody.
Cooke walked into a downtown Bank of America branch and advised a teller that she came from the dentist and could only speak quietly, reports an FBI affidavit.
As the teller leaned in, Cooke whispered her demand for $30,000 and showed a gun that turned out to be a toy, the affidavit said.
The teller then triggered the silent alarm and walked away instead.
Cooke then left and hid in a nearby store, where she was apprehended.
If convicted, Cooke can be subject to up to 20 years in prison.
