A 27-year-old New York woman, who was arrested two years ago for a topless stroll, has reportedly accepted a $29,000 legal settlement with city officials for her action.

The New York Post reported Sunday that due to a prior state appeals court ruling, Jill Coccaro, who now goes by the name, Phoenix Feeley was given the settlement as part of her lawsuit for an August 2005 arrest for indecent exposure.

The decision was based on a 1992 ruling by a New York appeals court that make it legal for women to bare their chests just as men are. Feeley decided to go topless during a 2005 art show which she was arrested for nudity.

Though she was not charged officially, Feeley had to spend 12 hours in custody and was allegedly mistreated by police officers. It is the second time that the city has been in loss due to change in the law.

In 2003, a model was paid a $10,000 settlement to compensate for her arrest while wearing only a thong and body paint during a parade.
