Police arrested a woman Wednesday after she attempted to open an airplane exit door while the plane was still in the air.

Reports indicate the 52-year-old woman from Dania Beach, Florida, left her seat and tried to open the door as the United Airlines flight was descending into Seattle to land at an altitude of about 4,000 feet.

While she didn't fully open the door, the woman did turn the handle enough to trigger a warning light in the cockpit.

A flight attendant was able to persuade the woman to take her seat without using physical force.

The woman was arrested for investigation of malicious mischief when the plane landed - an investigation into whether alcohol and prescription medication were involved is being conducted by authorities.
