A 78-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital after being bitten by a 5-foot snake while watching television inside her home. The snake is one of the world's deadliest varieties.
Valerie Makin was sitting on her couch knitting and watching the tube when she spotted the unlikely home invader out of the corner of her eye. When she tried to flick it away, it stuck its fangs in her left arm.
Janice Milinkovic, Makin's daughter, who was in her bedroom at the time, says, "She never even raised her voice. I got off the bed and I saw it slither off the couch and that's when I knew she wasn't (joking)."
Makin was rushed to the hospital and luckily did not suffer poisoning because the snake's fangs punctured her skin and the venom did not enter the bloodstream.
The brown snake crawled under the couch where it stayed until a pest control inspector took it away.
