A 106-year-old widow and her 30-year-old caretaker ended their lives together in a joint suicide pact at the home they shared.
Police report the bodies of Helen Godet and her caretaker, David Lund, were found along with suicide notes dated December 27, 2005 indicating Lund strangled the woman after she decided she could not take her own life.
Police Inspector Dennis Maffei says, "She was supposed to drink the poison, but she could not do it. It said that she wanted to kill herself... It was just time."
Following the strangulation, Lund ingested a fatal dose of antifreeze.
Social workers and people close to the two report they were inseparable and Lund slept on Godet's couch, following their introduction nine years ago.
