A woman charged with assualting a dog breeder with a dead Chihuahua puppy was adjudged guilty of misdemeanor assault and trespassing.
Lisa Hopfer, 34, could be sentenced to up to 18 months in jail and charged a $1,500 fine. Trial evidence included X-rays and pictures of the dead dog, and testimony from dog breeder, Linda Hulsey.
Hulsey charged Hopfer of hitting her at least 30 times with the dead body of the Chihuahua she had sold to Hopfer. She told police that after buying the supposedly 6 weeks old puppy, a veterinarian said it was only 4 weeks old and had to be returned to its mother.
The puppy then died before Hopfer could take it back.
Police said Hopfer forced herself inside Hulsey's home and faced Hulsey. Hopfer then took the dead dog and started pummeling Hulsey over the head with it, police said.
Hopfer said her new dog, also a Chihuahua, was doing great.
