A 38-year old woman arrested for petty theft almost got additional jail sentence over a vial of cat urine.
According to a local paper, Cynthia Hunter was arrested Aug. 15 on a charge of petty theft after she was accused of stealing from a Wal-Mart store.
However, deputies added charges of possession of a controlled substance when her purse yielded a vial containing a yellow substance.
An earlier drug field test suggested the substance was methamphetamine.
But Hunter, who pleaded guilty to petty theft, protested, saying the substance was dehydrated cat urine for her son's science project and that it had been purchased at an animal clinic.
She was later released Thursday after lab tests confirmed the substance was actually cat urine.
