It came as a shock for pregnant Stephanie Green when she was leaving for the hospital to get induced for her delivery but instead ended up giving birth to her second child in a car.

It was the second time in 17 months; Green had baby Zaria Tuesday while en route to a hospital. "I thought I was gonna make it this time, but she changed all that very quickly," Green told AP.

After having the first contraction at around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Green called friend Shanika Lewis for a ride to the hospital. The two friends were just blocks from a Raleigh hospital about an hour later when the contractions got more intense.

After a few minutes, Green's friend noticed that her water broke and after a few second the baby was born with the help of Lewis, who works at WakeMed hospital, helped with the delivery until emergency personnel arrived.

Lewis, who didn't have anything to cut the umbilical cord, tied it with a rubber band. Green's other daughter, 17-month-old Semajai, was born in a car after her mother got stuck in traffic.
