A 34-year-old woman was charged with malicious castration after attacking and ripping a man's genitals using her bare hands during a Christmas party, authorities said.
Reports said the Rebecca Arnold Dawson from Lillington, North Carolina caused such severe injury to the man's genitals that he required stitches.
Frank Powers, Lillington police chief said Dawson was attending a party sponsored by the man's 38-year-old girlfriend, when she grabbed the man's genitals during a fight. The police said the woman did not use any weapon and all three were heavily intoxicated.
Police Cpl. Brad Stevens said, "I believe he needed more than 50 stitches to repair the damage, but he is back home at this point. All we can tell you is that the injury was done with her hands."
The state of North Carolina defines malicious castration as cutting off, maiming or disfiguring a person's genitals with the intent to hurt or render the victim impotent.
Dawson posted a $50,000 bail on Wednesday, and was also charged with other offenses including assault causing serious bodily injury.
Powers said, the castration arrest was the first of its kind in Lillington, a town of about 3,000 roughly 30 miles south of Raleigh, North Carolina.
